For Christmas 2010, Kevin presented me with the best gift I've ever received - a trip to New York to see "Wicked," my favorite musical, on Broadway. The rest of the trip was mine to plan. For those of you who know me well,  you know the 'gift' of planning a vacation was a wonderful present in itself! On April 14, 2011, we left for New York City.

We arrived in New York around 2:00 p.m. on that Thursday, and spent the afternoon wandering through Times Square and grabbing a late lunch. Later in the evening we took the subway down to the South Ferry stop and hopped on the Staten Island Ferry to get a spectacular view of the Statue of Liberty and the New York City skyline. This was Kevin's first time in New York, and I wanted him to get a good view of the city. It was my third visit to the city, but the NY skyline is breathtaking no matter how many times you take it in.

On Friday we took a 6-hour walking tour of the city. It was fun and very educational. We got to see Wall Street, the World Trade Center site, Chinatown, Little Italy, Soho, Washington Square Park, Greenwich Village, Central Park and more! It was the perfect way to see the city. We came back to our hotel room and took a little nap after our 10 mile walk, and then got ready for the musical.

We arrived at the Gershwin Theater and headed up to our seats on the balcony. I was quickly leading the way (as I have a tendency to do...), when Kevin grabbed my hand and slowed me down. He pulled me aside, started his little speech and got down on one knee right there in the lobby! I honestly don't remember what he said exactly, I just remember saying "Of Course!!" and "how do you expect me to pay attention now?" "Wicked" was amazing (when I wasn't staring at my ring), and after the show we ate a late dinner at Chevy's (not the most romantic but it was 11:30 and we were starving!). It was a great end to the perfect day!

We spent the remainder of the weekend in New York enjoying the excitement of our engagement. We endured a chilly and wet afternoon at Yankee Stadium, ran 4 blocks for cheesecake in the pouring rain, shopped in Times Square, and visited the Empire State Building. It was perfect.
